This school year, the PTA of Ysgol Y Castell continues it’s work of holding special events and raising funds used to contribute to worthwhile causes both in and outside of the school. Thanks to the leadership of past chairpersons such as Matt Henry and Tracey Kerfoot, we have a great track record of enriching both school and community life through various events throughout the year.
Last year, the main fundraisers we organized were the Christmas Fayre, the Carnival and Castell Beat, but many other smaller events have been put on as well, and we are always open to new ideas.
The funds raised by the PTA are used for a variety of purposes. Last year, in addition to making a £500 donation to St. Kentigern Hospice, PTA money helped fund such things as the ‘in house’ Pantomime in December, the t-shirts for the school choir, the end of year photo books, dictionaries and DVDs for the retiring year 6, and the list could go on.
The most valuable contribution you can make is a little bit of your time. Since the PTA exists purely for the benefit of the school and community, any time and energy you can invest in PTA activities will ultimately benefit the children at Ysgol Y Castell, including your own.
The best way to find out more about the PTA is to attend a PTA meeting, where everyone is welcome (and there is no arm-twisting!). Also, to stay abreast of PTA activities, join the ‘Friends of Ysgol y Castell’ group on Facebook. The meeting times and activities are always posted there, as well as in the school newsletters.
Working together, we can accomplish a great deal to help make Ysgol Y Castell an even better place to learn.
See you soon!
